My Philosophy

I believe that it is possible to learn from the best; that there are tools and best practices that are necessary for information projects to succeed in their goal to deliver strategic value to an organization.  I also know that success will not happen without engaging with the teams who will do the hard work required to implement an information system. Leadership, communication, attention to change management strategies that support business process changes and training are all required.

Driving strategic value when implementing an information system is possible.  With careful planning for the technical and business requirements, and strategies to support change, an organization will have a good start.  Focusing on progress and managing for risk along the way ... I can help.

Work

My clients came from a wide range of industries and sizes- Banking (Wells Fargo); Pharmaceuticals (Bristol-Myers Squibb, Pfizer, Sanofi Aventis); Education (University of Arizona); Healthcare (Kaiser Permanente); Services (Price Waterhouse Cooper, Thomson Reuters); Insurance (Aenta); Proctor & Gamble, Kraft, and even the NBA.

About ME

Since I started pursuing my MBA University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, I wanted to know as much as I could about how businesses operate. Through their program, I learned how to created plans for finance, operating, marketing. During my time at Eller, I also immersed myself in Management Information Systems (MIS) to discover how information systems influence strategy and decision making for organizations.

I began my career in implementing accounting systems for small businesses.  Next I worked for as a consultant expanding from accounting to enterprise applications which included business intelligence support and warehousing.  As my career progressed, so did the size of the organizations and industries of the clients I helped. As manager of professional services for a small software company, I was fortunate enough to work with world class project managers who helped Fortune 500 companies achieve strategic goals through information systems.

Since then I’ve spent some time as the client - working for University of Arizona managing digital project, IT teams, managing IT portfolios, and most recently learning about systems that support fundraising as part of the University Development Program.

I often build a bridge between technical and business - helping diverse perspectives align on a vision and plan. I also ask what can be improved, made repeatable, and what should be measured to show success.
